Play Video: First you'll need Windows Media Player 10 or higher. If you don't have WMP10 or higher click here to download it: For best results right click on the picture, select "Save Target As", choose a location on your computer to save the video. When it's downloaded you'll have the option to "Open" the file, select this and the video will be saved to your computer and you can watch it even when offline. The video file will be small enough that you can send it as an email attachment. *Most email providers allow up to 10meg email attachments, some may not. If that's the case just email the link to the page. Left clicking on the picture will also launch the video but it will not be saved on your computer and you may see pausing if you have a slow connection or are experiencing network traffic issues. Your tandem video will remain on this website for 1 full year (at least). So please save it to your computer. Pausing: If you're "left clicking" on the picture and you are seeing random pausing when you first play a video you'll need to change a setting in Windows Media Player. Click "Tools" at the top of the player, arrow down to "Options". Click the "Performance" tab. Set the appropriate connection speed. Most important, where it says "Network Buffering", click the "Buffer" radio button and enter the number 30 for seconds of content (at least). This will ensure that you download enough of the video before the player attempts to play it. See picture below.
Save a Skydive to your computer: Once download is complete, click pause. Then click File, then Save As. Choose the destination on your computer to save the file and click Save. The download is complete when the little bar to the right of the play bar has traveled all the way across to the right of the screen. Set Media Player to "Auto Repeat", then you'll know when the download is done because the video will start to replay (See Auto Repeat Below). Auto Repeat In Windows Media Player, click "Play" tab at the top of the screen, then click Repeat. This will turn on auto repeat if Repeat wasn't previously checked, if it was already checked doing this will turn off auto repeat. Problems? All files are about 10 meg, which is very large for a dial-up connection. Dialup may take 30 minutes or more to download the video. Cable and DSL will take between 10 and 60 seconds. If you're experiencing random pausing while playing video, wait till the download bar gets all the way to the right, then you can play the video without any pauses. Make it faster!!! If you want it to seem faster, up the memory devoted to temporary internet files, and set internet explorer to save content for a long period of time. Right click on internet explorer, select "properties" or "internet properties". Set the keep history days to a high number, like 300. Now click the settings button. Here you can up the max size you're allowed to save in your internet explorer temporary internet files. Now when you click on a video on this site, if you've watched it before, it'll play instantly because it's playing from your computer, not downloading. |
